Saikat B.

Myself Saikat, currently staying in Montreal as a Doctoral Scholar of Civil Engineering at Concordia University. I find my origin in the nature of the hillside Tea Estate of Doors situated in the erstwhile Jalpaiguri district of the West Bengal state of Bharat. I have spent my childhood and the early youth in Jalpaiguri town. In the early days of my literary activities, I used to publish in the School Magazine and in the local little magazines. Gradually we, the like-minded friend group of ours, started to express ourselves through publishing a little magazine in Bengali and later published the first English little magazine of the town. Over time I have had the opportunity to edit a number of magazines and souvenirs. Apart from writing and publication, I have been an amateur theatre worker with 'Jalpaiguri Chittapat' and in Kolkata, we founded our sister group 'Kolkata Chittapat'.

As one of the Jt. Cultural Secretaries of the IBAM, I sincerely believe that nurturing the cultural expressions are of prime importance for a community of diaspora in order to comprehend its own space in the global sphere as well as to identify the scope of contribution. I hope the effort of IBAM in brining the tri-lingual magazine out will add a colourful feather in the cosmopolitan culture of Montreal city.
